Why did my transfer fail?

Updated yesterday

There are a few common reasons a transfer may not go through. Below are the most likely causes and what they mean.

Account setup and verification

If you joined Intelligent Investing on a Friday or over the weekend, your first transfer may not occur on the following Monday. We need time to verify your identity and confirm your banking details before we can complete account setup and begin moving funds.

Bank connection issue

Sometimes we’re temporarily unable to connect to your financial institution. This can happen if:

  • your bank requires additional authentication (such as answering a security question), or

  • the connection to your bank has expired

When this happens, transfers may pause until the connection is refreshed. Setting up weekly recurring contributions can help keep your investing on track, as they’re less affected by short-term connection issues.

Incorrect or incomplete banking information

If your banking details were entered incorrectly or required information was missing when you linked your bank, transfers may fail. Our support team can help review and correct this quickly.

No funding source connected

This error means a bank account hasn’t been linked yet. You’ll need to connect a funding source before transfers can begin.
