Transfer a Non-Registered Account to a TFSA or RRSP

You can move a non-registered investment account into a registered account (TFSA or RRSP) directly in the app.

How to transfer your account

  1. Open the non-registered investment account you want to transfer.

  2. Tap the Settings icon in the top-right corner.

  3. Select Account type.

  4. Tap Transfer to a TFSA or RRSP.

  5. Follow the on-screen steps to complete the transfer.

Once the transfer is complete, your holdings will be moved into the new registered account.

Important notes

  • Only non-registered investment accounts can be transferred into a TFSA or RRSP.

  • You can’t convert a TFSA into an RRSP, or an RRSP into a TFSA. Moving funds between registered accounts requires a withdrawal and a new contribution.

  • Transferring assets from a non-registered account into a registered account may trigger taxable capital gains, and the amount transferred will count toward your annual TFSA or RRSP contribution limit.
